As the fall leaves begin to dissipate and Bellingham is left with dropping temperatures, The Jingle Bell Run season has officially dawned upon us!
Starting in 1984, the Jingle Bell Run has had it’s success nationwide, just in time for their 40th anniversary in Bellingham. An annual tradition for our city, the cause has greatly funded the money for arthritis research and treatment, allowing anyone to make a difference one step at a time.
This year’s run on the 14th is special because it begins in the Bellingham High School parking lot, starting at 8:00 am for early festive events and for our band to play while preparations for the runners are made. The times for the races and prices are listed below:
- 8:30 am – Kids Fun Race With The Elves: $30 dollars September 1st to December 6th, $35 December 7th-14th.
- 9:00 am – 5k Untimed Run: $40 Nov. 1st to Dec. 6th, $45 December 7th-14th
- 9:00 am – 1 Mile Walk: $40 Nov. 1st – $45 Dec. 6th, December 7th-14th
- 9:00 am – 1 mile Dog Trot: $50 dollars Nov. 1st- Dec. 6th, $55 Dec. 7th-14th
*If you want to participate yet can’t attend the event in person, you can join the race virtually! However, payments have closed as of December 1st.
Once all of the runners have finished, the Top Finishers for the races and Top Fundraising awards will be announced and medals/ribbons will be given out respectively. The Jingle Bell Run comes to a close soon after, at 11:30, though festivities and the continued support for funding for the Arthritis Foundation will still continue on.
Overall, Jingle Bell Run has shown to be a fun and joyous event for a cause significant to our community and world. Accessible to everyone, the Jingle Bell Run is highly recommended to anyone wanting to give back to the community and support a cause this holiday season.
