My best advice would be to avoid thinking about this pursuit in terms of finding “a female companion” and more in terms of finding someone you enjoy and want to spend time with. In order to do this, you should talk to different people with the intent to get to know them, rather than the end goal of companionship. The best place to start is simply that conversation, and you can adjust depending on who specifically you’re talking to.
